Electronic Refund and Special Address Notification
CBP Electronic Refunds (ACH Only)
Starting February 6, 2026, CBP will no longer issue paper refund checks. All customs refunds must be paid electronically via ACH. By default, refunds go to the importer’s bank account on file in the ACE Portal. If a Form 4811 is on file, the refund will be sent to the designated party’s ACH account, as long as that party has an active ACE account and ACH approval.
If neither the importer nor the 4811 recipient has ACH set up, CBP will not release the refund until banking information is completed. No interest is paid while refunds are pending. ACH enrollment is mandatory and should be completed as soon as possible to avoid delays.
