Ocean Manifest Confidentiality

Bill of Lading Data & Freedom of Information Act (FOIA):
Bill of lading data is published in the U.S. under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). This makes ocean manifest data public, but air and truck manifest data are not published. EDI Transmission to CBP:
There is nothing in the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) transmission to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that controls whether the information will be made public or not. This means that CBP's publication of ocean manifest data cannot be directly controlled through the transmission itself.

Manifest Confidentiality Request:
The only way to prevent the publication of specific manifest data is by submitting a Manifest Confidentiality request directly to CBP. This request can help safeguard sensitive data from being exposed in public databases for example as below:

Import Genius , Piers and Trademo
